Phototherapy
A new advanced phototherapy treatment - Narrow Band UVB - is helping people around the world successfully treat psoriasis without drugs. We have recently added Daavlin Narrow Band UVB Photherapy Cabinets to our practice-one for full body treatment and one specifically for hand and foot treatment.

Narrow Band UVB (Ultraviolet B) Phototherapy is the latest, state of the art treatment in treating patients with psoriasis. Narrow Band UVB uses the most beneficial wavelength of ultraviolet light (311-312 nm) to help patients. While other psoriasis treatment require the use of supplemental drugs that are expensive and are often associated with side effects, these drugs are not necessary with the Narrow Band treatment. This treatment results in remission periods superior to methods that use Broad Band UVB light and comparable to the treatments which use supplemental drugs, giving new hope to psoriasis sufferers. Our patients stand in the specially designed cabinet to be exposed to the healing light. Dr. Kinney and staff are able to program the cabinet to deliver a specific dosage of light customized to your needs. The results with this treatment are excellent.

Narrowband UVB Phototherapy
Narrow-band UVB refers to a specific wavelength of ultraviolet (UV) radiation, 311 to 312 nm. This range has proved to be the most beneficial component of natural sunlight for psoriasis and looks promising in the treatment of some other skin conditions including atopic eczema and vitiligo, pruritus, polymorphous light eruption and early cutaneous T-cell lymphoma.
Compared with broadband UVB, in the treatment of psoriasis:
· Exposure times are shorter but of higher intensity.
· The course of treatment is shorter.
· It is more likely to clear the psoriasis.
Longer periods of remission occur before the psoriasis reappears.
